Hello! (After a long absence)

I obviously have been slacking in the blogging area. It has almost been an entire year since I updated but it has been a busy busy year. So here's a recap..

May 2010 our family grew to four! Brady Reid was born and life will never be the same. Brady is such a personality and so different from big brother Lane. First of all, if there was one word to describe Brady it would be "DETERMINED"!

Brady is a very opinionated and determined to little boy. Case in point, he was swaddled for 5 months! He refused to sleep unless he was snuggled up tight in a swaddle blanket. I finally had to break him of it b/c the kid was crawling! Yes, my sweet 5 month old decided to take off crawling to catch up with Lane. He was determined not to be left behind. Brady also prefers Lane's toys to his own and he is determined to play with them, no matter how dangerous they might be. It's very hard to teach Lane to share with Brady when I'm always yanking toys away from him so he won't swallow the pieces. However, Lane shares toys on his own without any direction from me. He loves Brady too much not to share with him.

I am a scheduled Mommy. I like to know that my babies will be eating and sleeping when they are supposed to, i.e. when I want them to and I work hard to make sure they learn their routine. Brady on the other hand does not like my schedule. He is determined to make his own schedule. (I have since won that battle) :) Needless to say, when Brady doesn't get his way, he is very loud and everyone in a three mile radius can probably hear him.

But in all his frustrating determination, he makes up for it in cuddly, loving sweetness. He has the sweetest soul and melts your heart in a second. He loves to cuddle and snuggle and just hug for a while. He loves to be held, constantly and is definitely a Mommy's boy. I am enjoying it while I can b/c I know it won't last. He also is a very happy baby that smiles with his entire face with mouth open wide!! He also adores his big brother....

Lane! Lane is absolutely A-MAZ-ING! He is such a joy. Lane is a phenomenal big brother. There was NO adjustment period for him. From the moment he met Brady, over-protective, loving instincts kicked into high gear! Lane lives to entertain Brady. He is my big helper and I wouldn't know what to do without him. Lane also speaks my love language. When I am having a rough day, Lane crawls in my lap, strokes my hair, and says, "Mommy, I love you. It'll be okay...don't be sad." Somehow my day isn't rough anymore.

Lane turned 3 in November and is turning into such the little man. He is in preschool two days a week and loves going to school. He is much more into the social aspect than anything else. Everyone is his friend and the other Mom's have told me that they all talk about Lane. Lane's best buddy AJ even asks his mom what Lane is wearing to school b/c he wants to look like Lane. haha!! (They have a mutual LOVE for John Deer Tractor gear... half the time they each are wearing some sort of JD shirt)

So for the last 9 months we have been running around to Lane's activities and playing. We are more than ready for this really cold, really snowy winter to be over so we can play outside again!!!! I'll try to update sooner rather than later.... :)

Much love,
Nikki

Egg Hunt #1

Easter festivities are going to come in phases this year. Hunt #1 took place in our subdivision this weekend. I wasn't sure if Lane would be able to participate due to his ongoing cough but we decided he could handle it and I'm so glad we did!!

First, I need to praise our community. We have a social chairman and she is wonderful at organizing events for the kids, like the easter egg hunt. Basically, homes stuff and hide the eggs in their yards and welcome all the kids to raid their lovely, landscaped space!! :) Then, the kids/parents parade through the neighborhood hunting eggs at each house...PERFECT!

Lane is by far the youngest of the group and the older kids were SOOOOOO nice! We were a little concerned that he might get trampled but that was not the case at all!! Lane got to go first at each house and the older kids were even putting eggs in his basket once they got all the eggs they were allowed. I love to see this, it restores my faith that not all kids are evil! (I'm around teachers way too much)

Anyway, Lane had a blast and came home with waaayyy too much candy. He sees the eggs on the counter and says, "egg game?? Please!!" Just another fun day in the life with a two year old!

For some reason this site and I do not get along when it comes to posting pics....just click here to see more: http://picasaweb.google.com/NikkiM716/20100328#
