Pumpkin Party

Lane's Kindermusic Pumpkin Party was today and Daddy made a surprise appearance. This is HUGE because we haven't seen Daddy much recently. He is working so hard and often that we don't see much of him. As Lane and I are walking downstairs every morning, Lane tells me, "Daddy work."

However, he was with us today and we had a blast!! We sang songs, played games and made pumpkin pie muffins and rice pumpkins. I don't have a pic of the pumpkin muffin b/c I was helping Lane but they were soooo cute. It's basically a vanilla wafer in the bottom of a muffin pan, pumpkin pie filling topped with 5-6 marshmallows. 400 degrees for 15 minutes...YUM!

Kindermusic is such a fun activity for Lane because it mixes two of his favorite past times; books and music. The pumpkin party was just an added benefit. :)

Justin and I have reached an all time low...we attempted to cut Lane's hair ourselves. Any girl would and SHOULD be jealous of the amount of hair and volume this little boy possesses. For a boy though, it means haircuts every two weeks. The last visit to the barber was basically a "buzz" cut and it was the cutest haircut he has had. So, Justin decides all we need to do is buy a guard for his clippers and "viola!" haircut at home!
My only comment, never again.

Here is Lane trying to get Averi out the door to go to the groomers. Averi is a little little dog but he has some massive strength when it comes to getting away from Lane. Lane, on the other hand, is a very strong little boy. I think Averi won this battle though.... immediately following the snap of this picture Averi turned around and took off running to the dining room where Lane refused to let go until he banged into the door frame thus letting Averi go. Ooohh how I miss my mobile groomer in Delaware.

Have a great one!!

Much love,
Nikki

Funny things

Lane has entered into a stage a funniness. Everything he does makes me laugh and now some things he says REALLY makes me laugh. I know I'm a little partial and not everything is as funny as I think they are but we have fun at least. :)

Lane latest love is helping me cook. I really wish I could cook and video at the same time. No matter what Lane is doing, if he hears the oven or refrigerator open then he screams at the top of his lungs...........wait for it............"COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKKKKK -cooooooookkkkkk - I eeaaaaatttt!!!" You would think I am starving the child! He loves to eat!! As soon as he has finished his announcement the next statement is "up there, up there, up there, up there" meaning he wants to sit on the counter and watch me cook. I must mention that there isn't a lot of breathing going on....all this comes out in one big breath and it happens EVERY day, three times a day if not more.

Lane also loves facial expressions. When he is really excited, his eyebrows stretch to the sky and his eyes are opened wide. When he is mad or not happy with a decision his eyebrows go way down and engulfs his face. Somewhere along the way he learned to put words with his expressions. Eyebrows up..."HAPPPPPPPYYYYYY", eyebrows down...."MMMMAAAADDD". Eyebrows up and head bobbing...."Silly" (actually it is Seeeey but I don't expect anyone but me to be able to interpret that one.)

Remember I said he loves to eat, he loves to eat like Cookie Monster even more. No matter what he is eating, he gobbles like cookie monster and then tells you...."Cookie Monter". (no that isn't a typo)

The dogs, need I say more? The dogs have brought on an adventure I didn't really know could exist. I love our dogs, we actually have wonderful dogs but they are little vocal. (little being the understatement of the century) I don't mind the dogs sitting in my lap or cuddling next to me but not all the time and not while Lane is awake b/c I sit down for maybe 5 minutes at a time. So naturally, Lane hears me, frequently, say...."Puppies, no-no", "Boys, down", or my favorite, "Averi - HUSH!"

Now, there is a mini-me in my house b/c the boys get just a little out of line and I hear Lane say, "Puppies, no-no", "Boys, down", or "Averi - HUSH!" The best is when Averi was barking in the back yard and Lane and I were in the driveway in the front. Suddenly, Lane throws down his chalk, huffs over to the side fence and yells, "AVERI - HUSH - AGH!"

Oh my little man....what joy!!!

Here are some pictures from this past month.

Hope everyone is having a great week!
Much love,
Nikki
